The original Satsuma pottery was developed around 1600 in Satsuma (now southern Kyushu) and was rediscovered in the 19th century in various Japanese cities for the production of export goods. Satsuma ware became one of the most popular export products of the Meiji period. This bowl is a striking evidence of this time and captivates particularly on the inside through the dense and varied decor.
Condition:
The bowl is marked with ? ? Fuzan on the underside and is in good condition, showing some wear due to age. There is a major chip at the mouth edge. The height is 7 cm, and the diameter is 15.5 cm. (cko)
