AN ASSORTED GROUP OF SEVEN ANGLO-AMERICAN BRONZE CANDLESTICKS, 19TH CENTURY AND LATER, comprising a pair of American dolphin form candlesticks, each with a black patinated curling tailed dolphin supporting a foliate cast bobeche and nozzle fitted with etched glass shades, raised on a slightly domed acanthus leaf cast base, Height: 9 1/4"; a pair of 20th century lyre form candlesticks, on rectangular footed bases, Height: 5 1/2"; a Victorian figural candlestick with a youth playing a tambourine and baton by his dancing monkey, flanking a foliate cast bottle form stem ending in a circular leaf detailed bobeche and similarly detailed nozzle, raised on a rectangular base with bracket feet, Height: 6 1/2", Width: 4 5/8"; an American Renaissance Revival gilt lacquered brass candlestand with a reticulated coiling vine thumbpiece centering a scrolling classical maiden bust, surmounted by a leaf tip detailed bobeche and similarly cast nozzle, raised on a stylized scrolling shell footed base, Height: 6 5/8"; an English Regency brass wax jack, with scissors wishbone device ending in conical form nozzle on a rod stem, raised on a conforming dished base enclosing stamped cabbage rose and lilies of the valley details, Height: 4 1/2".Note: the last two lighting devices are models of illustrated examples in "Nineteenth Century Lighting, Candle-powered Devices: 1783-1883," by H Parrott Bacot, Schiffer Publishing Ltd, Pennsylvania, (C) 1987, illustrations 107 and 125.
