The grandfather clock with a very rare Graham high precision temperature compensating pendulum has two doors and the nutwood cabinet is reinforced with brass inlays outside and on the back wall. The glazing in the doors is partly original. The dial is silver plated and shows Arabic numerals; a small second dial is located in the middle The hour and minute hands are blue tempered and made of steel. The clockwork has a 10-day-movement with a 4/4 strike on the gong with repetitions. In the lower part of the case the gut strings carry three brass weights and the mercury compensation pendulum. The glass tube in the steel pendulum rod contains about 4 kg mercury filling. It is regulated by the pendulum body with knurled nut and fine thread. The clockwork is very solid with beautiful Graham escapement. The original key crank, which has its own holder in the upper door, is attached.
The cabinet is in very good condition, only the base has an old crack in the wood. There are two adjusting screws at the top and bottom of the rear wall to the precise alignment of the case to the wall. The weights are in good condition. The grandfather clock is in very good working condition. The dimensions are 147 x 43 x 23 cm. It runs as expected, very accurate; but long term precision and regularity cannot be guaranteed. (asi)
