Rozenburg porcelain (1883-1917)

The Rozenburg porcelain factory was established in 1883 by W.W. von Gudenberg (1855-1930) under the name ‘N. V. Haagsche Plateelfabrik Rozenburg’. It specialized in tableware and vases with shapes and decoration of Art Nouveau. In 1884, the Designer Th. C. A. Colenbrander (1841-1930) joined the factory as artistic director. He is considered the greatest innovator of Dutch ceramics. In 1894, the position was taken over by J. J. Kok, who introduced the production of eggshell porcelain, which enjoyed great popularity around 1900 and is still famous to this date. (tfa)
