Very good condition
This is a pair of standing bird figures of almost identical shape from Mali from the period of around 1940. With long beaks they presumably depict horn ravens. The ‘bird’ is one of the first creatures within the Senufo cosmos. The distinctly shaped stomach of a pregnant woman and the phallic set up beak assume that the figure could be male and female at once.
The pair of bird figures is in very good condition with minimal traces of use like slight abrasion of the beaks. They are each 42 cm in height. (tm)
