‘Reuben’ is a print from the series ‘Twelve Tribes of Israel’, which celebrates the 25th anniversary of the state of Israel. The series with writings by Abba Soloman Eban comprises 13 illustrations in total. The illustrations originate from the famous Spanish representative of Surrealism, Salvador Dalí (1904-1989). They were published in 1973 by Transworld Art Corporation in New York and printed by Atelier Rigal (Intaglio/Pochoir/Typographie). Depicted in the present work is a colossal flower with a red blossom in the foreground and in the background a mythical creature who is handing a flower to a woman.



Condition:

The work is still mounted in one point under a mat (reversible) and framed. The sheet mat stained and the colors are slightly faded. The frame displays wear. The plate is 50.2 x 37 cm in size, the sheet 65.5 x 50.5 cm, and the total dimensions, including the frame, are 77.5 x 58.8 cm.
