This collection by the French artist duo Simon & Bruno comprises the works ‘Tentation’ [temptation], ‘Femme Araignée’ [Spider Woman], ‘Hayworth’ and ‘Egyptienne’ [Egyptian Woman]. The works depict four ladies in Art Deco style. The two silkscreens feature bold colours, which are partly embellished with mica. The other two show a more sober composition. The embossing of the paper, which gives the paper an unusual texture, is characteristic of the works by Simon Solinski and Bruno Aveline. The four works are limited editions.



The silkscreens by Simon & Bruno are in very good condition. The works ‘Tentation’, ‘Hayworth’ and ‘Egyptienne’ are signed lower right ‘Simon & Bruno’ and bear a ‘Yin Yang’ stamp. They are numbered lower left ‘144/160’, ‘21/80’ and ‘10/30’ respectively. ‘Hayworth’ and ‘Egyptienne’ bear the stamp ‘Edition Simon & Bruno France’ lower left. The sheet ‘Femme Araignée’ also bears the stamp lower left and is numbered ‘110/160’ and titled. The simple frames show slight signs of age and wear. Framed two works measure 83 x 67 cm and two measure 77 x 58 cm. The sheets measure 65 x 50 cm and 56.8 x 38.3 cm respectively.



Simon & Bruno (b. 1940/1959)

Since 1977 Simon Solinski and Bruno Aveline have been working together as the artist duo ‘Simon & Bruno’. They first designed dolls and puppets, which were exhibited in Strasbourg and Paris. In 1982 they opened a gallery where they showed their own works and organized group exhibitions. Two years later, the duo moved to the United States. In San Francisco, they created their first ‘sequin images’, which enjoyed major success on the American west coast. From these works Solinski and Aveline then developed a series of limited edition screen prints. During the mid-80s the artists created their first bronze sculpture and designed a collection of hand-crafted gold jewellery. Since then, Simon & Bruno have held numerous exhibitions in France and the US.
