The side table ‘Xai’ was designed in 2014 by the designer Oscar Tusquets Blanca in cooperation with the Paris taxidermist Deyrolle, a friend of Salvador DalÃ, and produced by the Spanish furniture designer BD Barcelona Design. The table is made of a stuffed lamb on bronze rococo feet and fitted with a round tabletop and a side drawer. It was released in a limited edition of only 20 pieces in white and one piece in black. The ‘Xai’ table is part of a design line launched by BD Barcelona Design, the ‘Salvador Dalà Collection’, which incorporates elements of works by DalÃ. The present table is inspired by Dali's painting ‘Proyecto de interpretación para un establo-biblioteca’ [Interpretation Project for a Stable-Library] from 1942.
The table is titled ‘Xai’, numbered ‘6/20’ and inscribed with information on the work, the manufacturer and the designer on a plaque inside the drawer. It is in very good condition, showing only the lightest signs of use. The felt is slightly discolored in red in one point due to the manufacturing process. The table is circa 72 x 78 x 29 cm in size.
