Description
Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Veracruz, ca. 400-600 CE and Guatemala, Mayan culture, ca. 600 - 900 CE. This first piece is a hand-built terracotta bird whistle with nicely detailed head feathers and black bitumen pigment on body. Measures 2 3/4" tall. The second is a mold-made bird statuette with a sweet, plump belly, most likely Late Classic Mayan. Measures 3" tall.
Provenance: Ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, IL, acquired prior to 1970.
