Mounted on a metal stand with wooden base

Masks of this type are characteristic for the Sepik region. Commonly known as the mosquito masks, they represent ‘Barag’, a bush spirit who reveals game to young newly initiated hunters.
Condition:
The mask is in good condition with signs of wear consistent with age and use. There are some age cracks, abrasions and losses to the patina. The dimensions are 70 x 21 cm.
