The Jo society can be found in Southern Mali, in the region of the Bagoé and Baoulé rivers. Membership is mandatory for all young men. Initiation takes place in intervals of seven years but various rituals are held annually, where figures of this type are displayed.
Condition:
The figure is in good condition with signs of wear consistent with age and use. There are some small fissures and abrasions. The height, without the base, measures 30.5 cm.
