Grégoire Giraud (1783-1836)
Pierre-François Grégoire Giraud was born in 1783 in Luc (Var). After studying economics, he moved to Paris in 1793, where he devoted himself to literature and sculpture. As a student of Claude Ramey, he was awarded with the 'Prix de Rome' in 1806. He then moved to Italy for seven years. Giraud's works are clearly influenced by the ancient art and the French naturalism.
