This bronze sculpture dating around 1930 shows a working man with a sledge and was made by an unknown artist called ‘Steffen’. The figure is stylized – though captured very delicately and gives through the treatment of the cloth a very naturalistic impression of a craftsman of the time around 1930.



The bronze sculpture is in a very good overall condition and shows a beautiful, dark shining patina. The figure was casted with the plinth in one piece. On the topside of the plinth, there is the artist’s signature ‘Steffen.fec.’. The foundry mark ‘DÜSSELDORFERT BRONCE BILDGIESSEREI G. M. B. H.’ can be found on the side. The sculpture’s overall height is 41 cm. The plinth measures 2,8 x 14,4 x 13,5 cm (height x width x depth). (cbo)
