Knot type: Asymmetrical, open right. Wool two ply; silk two hor: sq. inch: 11 242 vert: 22 ply; except medium pink silk four ply. Woven upside down.
Warp: Wool, ivory, natural, Z2S. Very slight warp depression.
Weft: One shoot. Over and under. Consists of two strands of mixed browns, S spun, natural wool.
Sides: One bundle of three body warps overcast with red wool.
Ends: Top (visual bottom) - original not extant. Bottom (visual top) - ¼†weft faced plain weave done with red dyed weft; then folded over; then 1†weft faced plain weave done with natural, brown, wool weft; then sewn down.
Colors: (11) red brown, light orange, red orange, light pink (silk, insect dye), medium pink (silk, insect dye), dark blue, medium blue (silk), light blue (silk), ivory (silk, undyed?), ivory, medium brown.
Design: Main field contains three panels each with an ivory ground. Each panel contains a typical kap design made up of a central vertical barber pole with a large ashik at the center. The poles is topped large “flower†device. The also has narrow bent arms at the sides and there are various amulet devices spaced around the ivory ground. The ashiks are done in ivory and pink silk. The balance of the design is done using red, orange and two blues. Around each of the panels is a border system made of of boxes done in alternating blue, orange and red. Each box contains an “anchor†device done in various field tones. At each side is a barber pole guard stripe. Around all of that is a ivory ground border containing “bat†designs done in red and blue. At the top and bottom there is an outer barber pole guard stripe. At the sides this becomes a column of red and blue chevrons. There are plain red reservers at the sides and narrow red elems at both ends.
