Item Details
Description
A very nice cane of a Civil War cannon. The antique walrus ivory handle is 1 1/8" high and 5 1/4" long. It depicts in very fine detail, a long-barreled Civil War cannon. The shaft is natural hardwood that has remnants of an early brown stain finish remaining. A 1 1/2" old ferrous metal ferrule completes the piece. The overall length is 37 1/8" and the condition is very good. It is American, ca 1875, and the cane was perhaps made for a Civil War artillery veteran, a common post-war occurrence. It is a fine, usable example that was undoubtedly worn with pride. Estimate: $1000-$1500. This lot is subject to shipping restrictions outlined in Terms and Conditions.
