This type of cane is said to have been carved by guides of the Gettysburg Battlefield.

History: The Battle of Gettysburg from July 1-3 of 1863 is now regarded as the most influential battle of the American Civil War. It was not regarded as such during the war, in particular due to the war continuing for almost two years after the momentous fight. It was the single largest loss of life in the duration of the war.
