Description
A silver oriental foo-dog cane. The silver handle probably weighted for self-defense, is 4 1/4" high and 1 3/4" at its widest. It depicts an oriental foo-dog with faceted red glass eyes and a silver ball in its open mouth. The shaft is hand fashioned from lignum vitae, a wood so dense that it does not float. It never had a ferrule. The overall length is 39 1/2" and the general condition is very good. It is perhaps from Thailand, ca 1900, and it is part of the collection of George & Carol Milne. Estimate: $800-$1200.
