Description
19th century, Edo period. Imitating Chinese wucai, the hexagonal faceted gu shape altar vase with bulbous center and flaring base and neck, each panel decorated with dragons and phoenixes amid scrolling clouds and flowers. Six character underglaze blue “Da Ming Wanli nian zhi†mark within two concentric circles to the base. Approx. 4 1/2 by 9 1/2 in., 11.5 by 24 cm.
