Description
A Colt custom engraved Model 1849 Pocket black powder percussion 5 shot .31 caliber revolver manufactured circa 1860 (serial #181119) belonging to 1st Lieutenant Richard Young of the 109th Regiment Pennsylvania Infantry, custom inscribed to backstrap to that effect, and to bottom of handle "From W.J. Young", likely the officer's father. Gun with five visible matching serial numbers, a 6" octagonal barrel inscribed to top "Address SamL Colt, Hartfold CT." on two lines, brass bead front sight, silver plated brass trigger guard and to walnut handle, and an incised battle scene on tondo to revolving cylinder. Gun accompanied by likely original mahogany case with fitted compartments to interior for holding accessories, including Civil War era bullet mold and black powder case, and tin of F. Joyce & Co. percussion caps. Overall approximately 10.75" long, box approximately 12.25" x 5.875" x 2.125"._x000D_
