Description
A Roman/Egyptian marble head of a goddess, Late Period, c. 664 - 30 BC, perhaps Isis, wearing a tripartite wig surmounted by a vulture, the base of her headdress in ringed in erect cobras (uraei), the headdress itself, now lost, was originally fitted in the square hole in the base and was probably of another material. The goddess' face is nicely carved with round cheeks, large eyes and purses lips. H: 2 1/2 in (6.3 cm). Some wear and mounted to a custom stone base. Ex English private collection.
