Description
Prideaux John Selby (English, 1788-1867). A collection of six uncolored engravings from volume 1 of "Illustrations of British Ornithology, Land Birds" published in Edinburgh, Scotland, the first edition in 1825 and second edition 1833. Collection comprising of "Barn Owl, Female (Plate XXIV)", "Sparrow Hawk, Female (Plate XIII)", "Common Swallow, House Martin, Sand Martin, Swift (Plate XLII)", "Lesser Pettychaps, Wood Wren, Yellow Wren, Golden Crested Regulus, Common Wren (Plate XLVII)", "Ptarmigan (Plate LX)", and "Fieldfare, Thrush, Redwing, Blackbird (Plate XLV)". Plate LIX inscribed "R. Mitford" within plate, plates XXIV, XLII, XLVII, and XLV inscribed "J. Selby" within plate. Each sheet size approximately 25.125" x 20".
