First Edition. - Schoonhoven was a Dutch poet and attorney. The volume is showing moral as well as political peoms, each with an added explanation. Moreover there are some poems printed, which are not published in other works by him. Gilt edges with rich inner dentelle and marbled endpapers with at the inner margin added paper. Rare and impressive edition with partly intense prints.

Erste Ausgabe. - Vgl. Höpel, Mundus symbolicus, 45 - Landwehr 727. - Schoonhoven (1594-1648) war niederländischer Jurist und Dichter. Der Band versammelt teils moralische wie auch politische Embleme, denen jeweils eine Erklärung beigefügt ist. Darüber hinaus finden sich weitere Poemata die in seinen anderen Werken nicht vorhanden sind. Goldschnitt, reiche Innenkantenvergoldung und marmoriertes Vorsatzpapier (im vorderen Vorsatz in der Mittelfalz verstärkt). - Seltene und eindrucksvolle Ausgabe mit teils kräftigen Abdrücken.
