Description
A late 19th century century silver and 9ct gold sapphire and diamond crescent brooch. Designed as a series of graduated oval-shape sapphires, with old-cut diamond detail. Estimated total diamond weight 0.35ct. Length 2.8cms. Weight 7.1gms.
Condition
Overall condition good to fair. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear. Some gemstones appear off streight within the setting and may need to be secured. Diamonds fairly well matched. Diamonds fairly bright. There are chips to several diamonds visible with magnification, the diamonds appear quite grey with fairly significant inclusions visible with the unaided eye. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. Sapphires medium blue, fairly well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions visible with magnification. There is more significant abrasion to one of the smaller sapphires, slight abrasion to oither sapphires. With safety chain. Please see the Important Notices for Purchasers for coloured gemstones. Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
