Pre-Columbian, Peru, northern coastal region, Moche II, ca. 300 to 400 CE. A fine terracotta stirrup jar in the form of a seated man. Nude except for a plaited headband and round earspools, he sits with his hands resting upon upraised knees. A lovely near portrait-like sculpture with naturalistic features enlivening his visage. Size: 5-1/4"W x 7-3/8"H.
Provenance: Ex-private Seattle, WA collection formed in the 1970's, and found wrapped in newspapers dated such.
