18th century AD. A carved steatite(?) figurine of a female attendant with pigtail and earrings, skirt and collar; the right hand holding a drinking horn, left hand hollow to accept a staff. Figures such as these usually come in pairs, a male and female, and are dedicated at shrines to ensure fertility and the birth of a child. 989 grams, 22.5cm (9"). Property of an American collector; acquired Europe 1970s-1990s. [No Reserve]
