Description
A choice Sumerian marble stamp seal in the form of a reclining bull, c. 3100 - 2900 BC, with beautifully detailed face and curled horns, the legs nicely rendered with coiled tail. On the base are four quadrupeds formed by circular drilling, holed vertically through back for suspension. 2 in x 1 ½ in (5 x 3.8cm). Removable stand, deposits cleaned from recesses. A rare and very nice example! Ex Midwest private collection.
