Description
A spectacular Yoruba beaded hanging for a shrine, Nigeria, made from 'Pound Beads' in the shape of a fish, one end with the Three Faces of Eshu, below, numerous beaded three-dimensional figures including ducks, a Bush-Cow head, a Chameleon, a standing female figure, two 'dancing' figures with pendants and drum-shaped projections. There are some geometric designs in the field and around the 'body' are cowries, each attached with three drum-beads. L: ca. 70 in (ca. 1m 78 cm), W: 18 in (46 cm). From Hassan's Tribal Arts Gallery, West LA, about 1990. A colorful and very attractive piece! Ex Venerable West S.F. Valley Collection.
