Description

EXTREMELY RARE THREE PIECE NAILSEA / VERRE MOIRE ART GLASS MINIATURE OIL LAMP, blue and white satin, ruffled top and bottom dome-form shade, ringed shoulder font that rests on a rolled ruffled edge dish; period burner, shade ring, and chimney. Fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century. 8 1/2" H to top of shade, 2 3/4" to top of collar.
Literature: similar, Smith - Miniature Lamps I, p. 231, fig. 576.
Provenance: Collection of Rick Hornwood of Camarillo, CA.

Condition

Font undamaged. Top inside rim of shade has a 1/8" shallow fishscale flake, and a speck of undissolved sand on side. Dish has a 1 3/4" L crack running from ruffle edge down into the roll, inside rim has a 1/8" shallow fishscale flake and other minor flakes and fleabites. Shade ring arms are soldered to burner.
