STAMPED "JUG / 1834" STONEWARE JUG, salt-glazed, approximately quart capacity, ovoid form with incised medial rings, collared mouth, and thin strap handle. 19th century. 8" H.
Provenance: From the collection of Marion and Carleton Cotting of Vienna, VA.
Catalogue Note: This jug shows characteristics of the Webster School of stoneware in North Carolina. Specifically the abundance of incised rings, the clay color, and the glaze spotting.
