Description
ARMY AIR CORPS C.B.I. THEATER JACKET, PANTS, CAP AND TRUNK
High-altitude bomber crew's shearling outfit including jacket, pants, cap, and China Campaign British steel trunk. Includes: Type D-1 Mechanics Shearling Jacket, medium, with label from the Western Leather Clothing Co. at the neck, front zipper operable, diagonal front pocket zippers oxidized and must be replaced. Left shoulder bears an Army Air Corps decal, cracked. Leather bears some old dry mold but except for a short split above one shoulder, could be "brought back" with a little time and care. Matching B-1 shearling pants are included, made by Wavershow Trimming Co., pockets added to the front of the pants, original suspenders present. Brown tape was applied to the right knee, and the leather in the pants is more extensively cracked. A visored shearling cap is also included, torn in several places. The uniform is contained within its owner's British-made steel trunk, 27" x 15" x 11", marked "J-9927" and bearing three China-Burma-India Theater insignia painted thereon. The top lid also bears the owner's name: "Norman C Johnson". Overall very good.
