Description
Middle East, Levantine Coast, Late Islamic, ca. 17th to 18th centuries CE. A beautiful and petite hand-blown amber glass vessel with undulating walls and a dimpled bottom with broken pontil. The entire surface is adorned with feather patterning as well as two narrow registers of cross-hatched designs, all hand-painted in white and beige against the amber background. These design motifs point to Byzantine and even core-form Hellenistic influences. Size: 2-3/8\"H x 2\" in diameter at widest point.
