A MEISSEN PARCEL GILT AND POLYCHROME PAINTED PALE BLUE GROUND TEA POT, UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND INCISED MARKS, LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY, in the Rococo style and of baluster form with sides centering circular reserves depicting courting couples in 18th Century attire amidst a romantic landscape, beneath an everted spout opposite a scrolling loop handle and surmounted by an associated similarly decorated domed lid with a floral bud modeled finial, the underside centering double incised line underglaze blue crossed swords marks and impressed potter's symbol. Note; the hand incised double lines on the underglaze blue crossed swords signify that this tea pot was not used by Meissen because of imperfections, but was good enough to be sold in the white and hence decorated outside of the factory.
