Description
A beautiful Egyptian alabaster vessel, New Kingdom, c. 1570 - 1075 BC, extremely well-crafted with rounded bottom and slightly flaring sides with flat rim, a pair of holes drilled opposite one another just below the rim to fasten the circular flat lid which sets neatly on top. The interior is well-hollowed and follows the contours of the outside with a thickness of about 5-6mm on the sides, a bit thicker towards the lower portion of the vessel. H: 6 7/8 in (17.4cm). In great condition with a few age cracks and numerous mineral deposits on the outside. Ex Dr. Hardy collection, MO; Michel E. Abemayor, Ancient Works of Art, NY.
