Description
A lovely Egyptian alabaster cosmetic vessel, Late Old Kingdom - 1st Intermediate Period, c. 2345 - 2055 BC, of an attractive tapered form with low rim, the interior vertically bored with deposits within. H: 3 1/8 in (8 cm). A nice little kohl jar with interesting antique wood and wire base. Cf. Petrie, Stone and Metal Vases (Oxford, 1937), pl. XXVIII, no. 560 for the type; Ex Stanley Lowell collection; Ex collection of Walter J. Dilling.
