Late New Kingdom, 1190-1077 BC. A carved wooden shabti with polychrome painted details including tripartite wig, multi-strand necklace, seed bag, dorsal pillar, band of demotic text to the lower body; mounted on a custom-made stand. 274 grams, 24cm (9 1/2"). Ex Ellis collection, previously from the Coultard collection; and by descent from his grandfather, Ernest Seymour Thomas (d. 1936), Egyptologist and King's messenger who was excavating in Egypt in the 1900s. [No Reserve]
