Description
Mexico, Colonial period, ca. 18th century CE. Carved wooden statue of Christ. Standing on an integral base, the wooden figure was carved then covered in gesso, painted in realistic colors, with the figure bleeding from wounds to his shoulder knees and ankles. He wears a small woven pouch around his neck. Colorful and rare! Size: 13-1/2"H (34,3cm).
