Description
By Albert Carrier-Belleuse French - Circa 1860 Carrier-Belleuse was an important French sculptor in the 19th century. He worked primarily in an unembellished style known as Realism. Before 1868, he signed his work A. Carrier. After this date, he used his entire family name. This alms box presents us with a sensitive image of an elderly friar attempting to solicit donations on behalf of a poor, presumably orphaned, child. This extraordinary sculpture is 7” tall and retains a great original patina. Material: Bronze and Brass
