Description
Original Framed Ricardo Delgado 1992 Signed Concept Sketch for the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine series. Lot also contains OMNI Magazine February/March 1993.
Background:
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine is a science fiction television series set in the Star Trek universe, from the years 2369 to 2375. Unlike the other Star Trek TV shows, it takes place on a space station instead of a starship, so as not to have two series with starships at the same time (the starship USS Defiant was introduced in season 3, but the station remained the primary setting for the show). Continuing story arcs and the appearance of recurring characters occurred far more often in DS9, unlike other Star Trek shows. The show is noted for its well-developed characters, its original and complex plots, religious themes, and for starring the only African American captain of all the Star Trek series to be featured as the show's protagonist (Avery Brooks as Commander Bejamin Sisko). The series concentrated on darker themes, less physical exploration of space, and an emphasis on many aspects of war.Artist:
Ricardo "Richard" F. Delgado is an illustrator who worked on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's (DS9) first season. It was his idea to place a baseball card on Captain Sisko's desk in the series as a decorative item, leading to the creation of the Buck Bokai character. Delgado was heavily involved in designing the station and its interiors such as ops and the promenade. The starships he designed include the Miradorn starship that was seen in DS9: "Vortex". He also worked as an illustrator on Star Trek: First Contact. His design for the DS9 wormhole captivates the imagination and begs the explorer inside every science fiction enthusiast to travel to the other side of the galaxy.

After leaving the Star Trek production staff team, Delgado worked as a storyboard artist on numerous films such as Apollo 13 and Species. Delgado was interviewed in Volume 1, Issue 9 of Star Trek: The Magazine and on the DS9 Season 1 DVD special feature "Deep Space Nine: A Bold Beginning." Delgado's work has also been highlighted in the 1993 February-March issue of OMNI magazine.

GeekRoom Grading System: Action Figures, Cards, Comics, Magazines, & Toys
Mint: A never-used collectible in perfect condition with complete packaging (including instructions, original attachments, tags, and so on) identical to how it appeared on the shelf in the original box.
Equivalent CGC grade 9.5 or above

Excellent: Used, but barely. Excellent is a small step under Mint, but Excellent can have very minor signs of wear. The wear must be a normal, desirable part of aging or so minor that it’s barely noticeable and visible only upon close inspection. Damage of any sort is not “very minor.” Wear or minor, normal factory flaws should be noted. (Factory flaws are small blemishes common at the time of manufacture — a tiny air bubble under paint, for example.)
Equivalent CGC grade 8.5 to 9.4

Very Good: A well-cared-for item that has seen limited use but remains in great condition. Item and instructions are complete and undamaged but may show some signs of wear.
Equivalent CGC grade 7.0 to 8.4

Good: Item shows wear from consistent use, but it remains in good condition. The original instructions are included and in acceptable condition. The item may be marked, identified, or show other signs of previous use. The item works perfectly and is in good shape overall.
Equivalent CGC grade 6.0 to 6.9

Fair: Items have considerable wear: scratches, worn paint, chips or decals missing. Parts may be missing. Original packaging has considerable damage as well.
Equivalent CGC grade below 6.0
