Description
Southeast Asia, Thailand, ca. 16th to 18th century CE, Ayutthaya period. A pair of near-miniature cast bronze heads of Buddha Sakyamuni (The Awakened One). Both appear to be in the Ayutthaya Kampheng Phet style, faces with serene expressions, arched eyebrows above downcast eyes, aquiline nose, slightly smiling lips, elongated earlobes, hairdress and ushnisha, the latter surmounted by a flame-like form. Note the beautiful deep rich patina and gold paint on one! Size: 2" and 1-7/8".
