Description
One large Chinese Qing Silk Embroidered Cloud Collar with a group of three other embroidered textiles. Late Qing Dynasty (1880 - 1911) with a small late 20th change purse. Dimensions: H30" x W 30" with other various sizesCondition: good some ware on the verso side of each collar. Note: " By the Qing dynasty, the cloud collar had become popular across all social strata, and was particularly favoured by young women.Although throughout the centuries, its size, form and embroidered patterns evolved dramatically, the collar is essentially symbolic in shape, with the cloud forms linked to the idea of abundance. At one time, the neck opening symbolized the Sky Gate (the entrance to heaven), and the lobes point outwards in all directions; making this delicate detachable collar a wearable representation of the universe."
