A choice Near Eastern fenestrated axe head, c. 1200 – 800 BC, with curved cutting face and short knob for attachment to the shaft. The two cut-out are bordered by a raised ledge for strength and the cutting edges have been sharpened in antiquity. 4 ¾ in x 4 in (12.1 x 10.2 cm). A very attractive and well-preserved example with a nice olive patina and mineral deposits. Ex Sackler collection.
