Description
Two late 19th century 15ct gold gem-set bar brooches. To include a ruby and diamond bar brooch, together with a rose-cut diamond bar brooch. One with hallmarks for Chester, 1896. Lengths 5 and 4.7cms. Total weight 8.9gms.
Condition
Overall condition good. Surface scratches and minor discolouration in keeping with general wear and age. Pins of a different hue to the brooches and may be a different fineness of metal. Ruby medium pinkish-red, well saturated, with good to fair clarity and typical inclusions. Ruby in good condition with minor abrasions. Cut and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents total carat weight estimation. Diamonds well matched to each brooch. Diamonds fairly bright. Light and dark coloured inclusions can be seen with magnification. Diamonds in good condition with minor abrasions. Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate and full colour and clarity assessment. Stamped 15ct.
