GEORGES GOURSAT, "SEM" (FRENCH, 1863-1934) CARICATURE PRINTS, LOT OF FOUR, lithograph in colors (each), each signed "SEM", figures identified with pencil inscriptions, including "Poete Ambulant", "Lord Savile", and "Mme de Beauchamp". Each housed under glass in a modern black-painted frame. Late 19th/early 20th century. 19 1/2" x 13 1/2" sight, 21 1/8" x 15 1/8" OA.
Provenance: From a New York private collection.
Catalogue Note: Georges Gourat (1863-1934), also known as "SEM", was a important French artist and illustrator of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. He produced many iconic images associated with these eras and often executed caricatures of the Parisian elite during his career. The present examples are emblematic of his style and of the era in which they were produced.
