Manner of Jan Havickszoon Steen (Dutch, c. 1626-1679), "The Music Lesson", oil on wood panel, apparently unsigned. Dutch Golden Age style figural painting depicting a lavish and detailed interior with a young woman in a red coat with ermine fur accents seated in a chair snuggling with a small dog as a male suitor stands close by looking down at her adoringly holding a violin bow, chair opposite young elegant woman with resting violin, sheet music on ground in foreground. Framed approximately 19.75" x 15.75". Unframed approximately 15" x 11.25".
