Description
The two male pottery attendant figures were excavated in tombs outside of present day Xian, known as Changan, the capital of the Western Han Dynasty in Shaanxi Province in Central China. They stand tall and straight, have broad shoulders but armless, Each attendant figure has distinctive facial features. They are made of pottery that should have been grey, but circumstances in the tomb turned the grey pottery black. Their elongated bodies were once clothed and wooden hands were attached to the body, but years of burial caused their decay. These figures are dated to the Western Han Dynasty 206 BCE to CE 24. 24 inches in height.Shipping is to be arranged after sale from Chicago, IL.
