Model #335, so designated above the hook keeper, this is one of the private label rods built by Heddon for casting champion Marvin Hedge. A hefty rod at 9' 3/2 and 6.3oz. Written on the flats is "A Marvin K. Hedge Rod/ Middle Weight Bass/ Made by Heddon". Never catalogued by Heddon, they were, nonetheless, sold through the Heddon dealer network. These rods were unusual in many ways, from the perforated cork of the "cushioned non-slip hand-grip", rubber thumb rest which was glued atop the cork to preserve fatigue, and the heavy duty non-slip ferrules, which were of a large outer diameter and cross-hatch knurled.
