Description

From the Ca Mau shipwreck; UK art market, acquired prior to 1980. In 1725, the Chinese ship Ca Mau with a cargo of export porcelain was on its way to the Malaysian archipelago. It sank 90 miles south of Canton after catching fire. The wreck was discovered in 1998, when two Vietnamese fishermen caught their nets on some Chinese porcelain and began to bring it to the surface.
