Description
Julian Opie (born 1958)
View from my bedroom window, 2007
continuous computer animation on LCD screen
12 x 9.75 x 1.75 inches
30.5 x 24.8 x 4.4 cm
Edition 300/300
signed and numbered on back of monitor. View from my bedroom window is a digital loop animation comprising 8 frames that depict one landscape throughout the course of a day. Presented in an LCD screen, this artwork is self-contained and ready to install. Perfectly blending influences from Pop art and minimalism, British artist Julian Opie creates bold paintings, sculptures, and animations to depict a world devoid of detail. Large blocks of color outlined in black (Opie’s stylistic signature) present the subject in a simplified form, leaving only the essence of the subject itself.
Internationally celebrated, Opie has work in public collections throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY; Tate Modern, London; National Portrait Gallery, London; Carnegie Museum, Pittsburgh; National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne, Australia; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Espoo Museum of Modern Art, Finland; Gana Art Centre, Seoul; Institut Valencia d'Art Modern (IVAM), Spain; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Museo d'Arte Contemporanea LUIGI PECCI, Prato, Italy; Neues Museum, Nuremberg; National Museum of Art, Osaka; Takamatsu City Museum of Art, Japan; and Israel Museum, Jerusalem.
