Description

French bronze Victorian garniture clock set, works stamped "VAP Brevete SSDS", enamel dial. 7" high, 3 3/4" wide to 12 1/2" high, 8 3/4" wide. Condition: patina, gilt wear, loss. By maker Victor Athanse Pierret, who was based in Paris and manufactured clocks of his own design. He was an important maker of alarms and exhibited at the Great Exhibition in 1851 where it is claimed he sold 10,000 miniature skeleton alarm clocks! He retired in 1865.
