Description
Two pairs of silk breeches, late 18th century, comprising: lilac pair with silver thread embroidered knee buttons and band; the others of shot pink/green silk with low fall and buttoned fly, both with fall fronts (2)
Condition
• Lilac/pink - generally good condition, looks little worn. Slight fading to buttons at waist, small brown spot stains and watermarks at lower section of right front leg. Embroidered and sequined knee bands are both good. They have buckle straps/optional button holes but no corresponding buttons – otherwise all buttons are intact. Fade line along a fold down side of left hip and leg. Slight fading over seat area. Inside – linen lining is generally white and fresh, very slight discolouration at rear waist.
• Shot green/lilac pair – good condition, buttons are complete, buttonhole edges are slightly frayed. Knee tabs with optional buttonhole as above. One pinhead hole front of right leg. Colour is good. Two small faint spot stains in seat area (minor). Linen lining is clean and good, one 1cm spot stain.
• Both pairs have pockets in front falls as well as hip pockets
